Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo J Bacordo (Retired) was appointed as Undersecretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) last September 15, 2022.
Prior his appointment, he served as the 38th Flag Officer-In-Command of the Philippine Navy from February 3, 2020 up to June 8, 2021.
He is a naval defense professional with 38 years of experience in command and leadership, both aboardship and ashore. His surface warfare expertise and leadership roles in key positions throughout his military career led him to consistently pursue and instigate vital acquisitions for the Navy’s modernization program and transformation initiatives.
